Making room for human thought.

Hi, I'm Yunseo, an HCI researcher exploring how spatial and intelligent interfaces can support human memory, creativity, and agency. I'm an M.S. student in Computer Science and Engineering at Korea University, working in the Digital eXPerience Lab with Prof. Gerard Jounghyun Kim. My research is in human–computer interaction, focusing on extended reality, spatial memory, and context-aware, personalized interfaces.

My research asks how extended reality can work with people's memory and attention instead of competing for them. I study how people perceive, remember, and revisit spatial information, and I design interfaces that adapt to the user, the task, and the environment while leaving the final judgment to the person. I build XR prototypes and evaluate them in controlled user studies.

I co-authored a CHI 2026 paper that uses Fitts' law to measure how emotion affects pointing performance. I also work on two funded projects: metaverse interaction for passengers in autonomous vehicles, aimed at reducing motion sickness and improving usability, and XR prototypes that support health, empathy, and social engagement among older adults.

I came to HCI from business administration and service design engineering, which taught me to start from people's pain points and to treat each design as a hypothesis to test and revise.

  • Memory and space. How people perceive, remember, and revisit spatial and digital information, and how VR and AR can help them reconstruct, revisit, and organize personal experiences.
  • Interfaces that step back. Context-aware interfaces that respond to users, tasks, and environments while leaving room for people's own judgment.

ReminiScenes: Episode authoring for multi-scene autobiographical revisiting in VR

When remembered places can be reconstructed and entered in VR, revisiting several of them raises a question that single-scene viewers never face: what comes next, and how do these scenes belong together?

ReminiScenes frames this as episode authoring: shaping how remembered scenes are selected, sequenced, and related during a revisit. The revisitor chooses a starting scene, then decides each next scene without leaving the one they are in.

As those choices accumulate, a Memory Trail keeps the resulting organization across scenes visible. The episode can be named, saved, and revisited alongside earlier episodes in an Episode Library.
